Residential house gutted in Kupwara village

Kupwara, Nov 24: A fire broke out on Monday evening at Shathmuqam Bramri in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, leading to a significant damage to a two-storey residential house.

An official told GNS that flames were noticed in the structure during the evening hours, prompting an immediate response from Fire and Emergency Services. “Fire tenders were dispatched to the spot, where they were joined by police personnel, army units stationed nearby, and local residents who assisted in the containment efforts,” said the official.

“Despite the intensity of the blaze, the combined efforts of the teams helped prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent houses, averting a larger disaster even as the residential house received significant damage and a firewood shed reduced to ashes,” added the official.

“No loss of life or injury was reported,” said an official, adding, “the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an assessment of the damage is underway”.
