Poonch, Dec 17: Throwball marked its formal introduction in the border district of Poonch with the successful conclusion of a two-day district-level coaching camp at the College Ground here, drawing participation from over 200 students from government and private educational institutions across the district.
The camp, as per a statement issued on Wednesday, was organised by the District Poonch Throwball Association under the aegis of the J&K 7 Side Throwball Association.
Field officials from the Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department, Poonch, were also deputed to ensure the smooth and disciplined conduct of the camp.
The valedictory function was graced by the Chief Guest, MLA Haveli Poonch, Ajaz Jan, who distributed certificates among all participants and officials.
The proceedings of the event were smoothly conducted by Imran Hussain Shah, who performed the anchoring duties.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest expressed pride over the introduction of throwball in the border district of Poonch and termed it a positive step towards strengthening sports culture among youth. He assured full support from his side and the government for the promotion and development of throwball and other sports activities in the region.
Later, the President of the District Poonch Throwball Association presented a vote of thanks to all the participants, officials and the media fraternity for their cooperation and support in making the event a grand success.
