Jammu, Jan 22: A male employee of Jammu University was found hanging from a tree inside the university campus on Thursday morning, triggering shock among staff and students, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as middle aged, Balwan Singh, a resident of Hiranagar and an employee of the MBA Department of Jammu University. He was residing in the university staff quarters at the time of the incident.
Officials said the body was found hanging from a tree near the Mathematics Department within the campus. Soon after the incident came to light, the police post Nehru Market took cognizance of the matter and rushed to the spot.
Police personnel secured the area and initiated preliminary proceedings. The body was later taken down following due procedure and further legal formalities were set into motion.
Officials said an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death. [KNT]
