Ladakh achieved remarkable progress since UT formation: Ladakh LG

Leh, Jan 26: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta on Monday said Ladakh had achieved remarkable progress in various sectors since the formation of Union Territory.

Addressing the 77th Republic Day celebration at the Polo Ground in Leh, LG Ladakh said, ìLadakh has achieved remarkable progress in various sectors since the formation of the Union Territory, and we must all strive to work together to build a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Ladakh.î

The Republic Day was celebrated with fervour and gaiety across Ladakh.

In Leh, LG Ladakh Kavinder Gupta unfurled the tricolour, inspected the parade and took a salute at the marching contingents.

On the occasion, he asked the people of Ladakh to take the pledge to follow the fundamental duties enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

The LG Ladakh spoke about various ongoing and upcoming developmental projects in Ladakh.

He said that the administration remains committed to strengthening infrastructure and improving basic amenities across the region.

LG Gupta said priority was being given to projects related to roads, healthcare, education, power supply, and public services to ensure balanced and inclusive development.

He said sustained efforts were being made to improve connectivity in remote and border areas, while also focusing on employment generation and welfare measures for local inhabitants.

The LG Ladakh said that the regionís strategic importance and unique geographical conditions require focused planning and efficient implementation of development schemes.

He also underlined the importance of maintaining transparency and accountability in the execution of public projects, saying that the timely completion of works remains a key objective of the administration.

In the Kargil district, the tricolour was unfurled by the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Muhammad Jaffer Akhoon.

Addressing the gathering, he said Kargil had always played a vital role in safeguarding national unity and integrity, and its people had consistently demonstrated patriotism, harmony, and resilience.

Executive Councillors Aga Syed Mujtaba and Kacho Feroz, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil, Nitin Yadav, ADC Imteeaz Kacho and Commanding Officer, 121 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Ashish Joshi were also present on the occasion.

In Drass, the Republic Day was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School Drass, where SDM Drass, Vishal Atri, was the chief guest.

The SDM unfurled the tricolour and took a salute at the march past presented by the contingent of Ladakh Police and students of various schools.

He said that Drass, being the gateway of Ladakh, was becoming the winter tourism destination.

Atri said that winter sports like snow skiing and ice hockey were getting popular day by day. He said the opening of the Zojila Tunnel would provide all-weather connectivity to Ladakh and open new employment opportunities for locals, boosting tourism and strengthening defence.
