Banihal, Feb 04: A tragic road accident claimed the life of an Army soldier on Wednesday evening when a Tata Tiago car bearing registration number JK14G-5411 fell from the Sawni Link Road onto the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near Dalwas in Ramban district.
According to official sources, the car was on its way towards Sawni village via the link road from NH-44 near Dalwas when it met with the accident and plunged over 200 feet onto the highway below.
Station House Officer (SHO) Chanderkoot, Jatinder Singh Rakwal, told Greater Kashmir that soon after the incident, a police team rushed to the spot. However, the driver had died on the spot due to the impact of the fall. He said the body was later shifted to the District Hospital (DH) Ramban for medico-legal formalities.
The deceased was identified as Sohan Singh, son of Bihari Lal, a resident of Madda, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur. He was around 35 years of age and was serving in the Indian Army, the SHO added.
