Srinagar, Mar 2: Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei’s demise has created a void not only in Iran but throughout the Islamic world, Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz said on Monday. “I think the killers will face bitter revenge as never before,” he said in a statement.
“The unifier and promoter of peace and harmony, Hazrat Imam Khomeini’s assassination has created a void that cannot be filled for a long time,” Prof Soz added.
In this hour of grief, “Iran-e-Sageer-Kashmir” is standing in solidarity with Iran, he further said. “Imam Khomeini had many achievements to his credit, primarily his efforts to unify the Ummah. The unpalatable Shia-Sunni narrative had also taken a back seat, and Hazrat Khomeini had created cohesion in the Ummah that brought relief to many minds in the subcontinent,” said Soz.
“We wish peace and progress for Iran. It is our cherished hope that Imam Khomeini will be remembered in Iran and outside Iran for a long time to come. It is high time for scholars to explain to the world what Mahatma Gandhi had said: that the settlement of a people forcibly by dislodging others could never promote peace. Time has proved Mahatma Gandhi correct. Unfortunately, Israel is not prepared to listen to Gandhi’s advice,” the statement read.
