Srinagar, Mar 6: Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo has urged the Union government to extend the last date for submission of NEET UG 2026 application forms for students from the Union Territory, citing internet connectivity issues in parts of Kashmir.
In a letter addressed to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the minister said many students in Jammu and Kashmir are facing difficulties while applying for the national level medical entrance examination due to limited internet speed in several areas of the Kashmir division, as per KNT.
The letter states that the administration has allowed only low speed internet services in certain areas to maintain law and order, which has created technical disruptions for students attempting to complete the online application process. Sakeena Itoo said the slow connectivity has made it difficult for many aspirants to submit their forms within the stipulated deadline. The minister said NEET UG is a crucial examination for students aspiring to pursue medical education and related courses, and any inability to submit applications due to connectivity problems could adversely affect their academic prospects. She noted that a large number of students, particularly those living in remote and rural areas, depend on stable internet services to access the online application portal. In view of the situation, the minister requested the Union Education Ministry to consider extending the last date for submission of NEET UG 2026 application forms so that eligible candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, particularly those from the Kashmir division, are able to apply. She said an early and sympathetic consideration of the request would greatly benefit students from the region. The letter was sent to the Union Education Minister on March 6.
