Rajouri, Mar 12: Security forces recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing around four kilograms during a joint search operation in the border area between Rajouri and Poonch districts, officials said on Thursday.
According to officials, alert troops of the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army launched a search operation on March 11 at around 4:45 pm in the area located on the boundary of Rajouri and Poonch districts.
During the operation, search parties recovered approximately four kilograms of explosives along with stale cooked food concealed inside a natural cave.
Officials said that the recovered explosives were destroyed on the spot as per standard operating procedures to ensure safety.
The recovery, officials added, reflects the continued operational vigilance and proactive efforts of security forces to neutralise terrorist logistics networks and dismantle potential hideouts in the region.
Security forces have further intensified the search operation in the area, and officials said that efforts to track down any possible militant presence are continuing.
