Amir Hassan, 23, son of Ghulam Hassan Ganie from Zainapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, has secured 26th rank in the JKAS examination. Despite failing the NEET examination three times, he cleared the highly competitive JKAS exam in his first attempt.
Amir completed his early schooling at Allama Iqbal Memorial Institute, Zainapora, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Government Degree College Shopian. Before focusing on the JKAS examination, he worked as a Class IV employee in the Youth Services and Sports Department.
Amir Hassan hails from Chitragam Kalan, a village located about 15 km from Shopian town. Surrounded by hills and apple orchards, the village largely depends on horticulture, with most residents engaged in orchard work or farming.
“I started preparing for this exam in 2024. It is very tough, but dedication and discipline make all the difference,” he said. He credited his success to his parents, teachers, friends, and especially his elder brother, who supported him throughout his educational journey.
He said he did not expect to secure such a high rank in his first attempt. “I focused on doing my best rather than thinking about the rank. Clearing the exam itself was my main goal. When I saw the result, I was pleasantly surprised and grateful for all the support I received,” he added.
Amir advised aspiring candidates to remain focused and disciplined. “Understand the syllabus and carefully practice previous years’ questions. They are the most important tools in preparation. Hard work, consistency and the right guidance can take you a long way,” he said.
He added that he hopes his achievement will inspire young aspirants, especially from his area, to keep pursuing their dreams despite obstacles.
On Monday, SDM Zainapora Bilal Ahmad and BDO Chitragam Tariq Ahmad visited Chitragam to felicitate Amir Hassan for his achievement.
Notably, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) recently declared the JKAS results, with a total of 90 candidates qualifying the examination.
