Kashmir University suspends scientist following arrest in FIR registered at Women’s Police Station

The University of Kashmir has placed a Scientist-C from its Department of Computer Sciences under suspension following his arrest in connection with an FIR registered at the Women’s Police Station Rambagh.

According to an official order issued by the Kashmir University, the employee, identified as Sajad Mohammed Khan, has been suspended with immediate effect under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956. The action follows his detention in custody in connection with FIR No. 11 of 2026.

The order states that the suspension is a procedural step invoked when a government employee is held in custody, and does not imply guilt. University officials said the move is in line with established service rules to ensure administrative propriety while investigations are underway.

Sources in the administration indicated that further action, if any, will depend on the outcome of the police investigation. Meanwhile, the university has not issued additional details regarding the nature of the allegations cited in the FIR.
