Rajouri, Apr 29: The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri has placed four teachers of Middle School (MS) Namblan Rajouri under suspension for alleged unauthorised and prolonged absence from duty.
The action follows a complaint received by the education department regarding the regular absenteeism of teaching staff at the school.
The department officials said that acting on the complaint, a committee comprising two lecturers was constituted to conduct a surprise inspection in which serious administrative and academic lapses were observed.
During inspection, out of five teachers posted at the school, only one namely Abdul Shakoor, was found present while the remaining four teachers namely Ayaz Ahmed third teacher, Mohd Jahangeer regularised RET teacher, Vikram Bali teacher and Mushtaq Ahmed teacher grade II were found absent without sanctioned leave.
The inspection team further found poor student attendance, noting that only 28 out of 123 enrolled students were present on the day of inspection.
The overall functioning of the institution was described as “very poor” and now while terming the absence as “gross misconduct, negligence, and dereliction of duty,” the CEO Rajouri Mohammad Hafeez has ordered immediate suspension of the four teachers under Rule 31 of the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956.
The suspended staff will, however, be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules, an order issued by Chief Education Office Rajouri reads.
During the suspension period, teacher Vikram Bali has been attached to Government Primary School Jabber Dhara in Zone Doongi while the remaining three teachers, Ayaz Ahmed, Mohd Jhangeer, and Mushtaq Ahmed will remain attached to Middle School Namblan until further arrangements are made.
