Srinagar, Mar 20: President of Janta Dal United (JDU), Jammu & Kashmir, GM Shaheen met the Union Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi and held detailed discussions regarding the revival and promotion of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting, Shaheen strongly emphasized the urgent need for a special tourism package for Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting the immense potential of the region and the recent challenges faced by the tourism sector.
He urged the Government of India to take concrete steps to boost tourist inflow, generate employment, and support local businesses associated with the industry. Shekhawat, responded positively and assured full cooperation from the central government. He stated that tourism in Jammu & Kashmir will be significantly boosted in the coming months, with focused initiatives and policy support. Importantly, the Minister also informed that a special Vande Bharat Express train service is planned to be introduced from Delhi to Kashmir, which will further enhance connectivity and attract a large number of domestic tourists to the region.
