New Delhi, Mar 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday congratulated Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and legislators for the passage of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in the state.
In a post on X, Shah said ensuring a uniform law for all citizens has been a long-standing commitment of the party, adding that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, state governments are steadily advancing in that direction.
He noted that Gujarat has followed Uttarakhand in passing the UCC Bill, calling it a “historic” step. Shah also said the country should be governed through equal laws for all citizens rather than “appeasement”, describing it as a key priority and commitment of the government.
