Srinagar, Mar 30: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) concluded its women’s talent hunt at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar, with nearly 200 cricketers from across Kashmir taking part in the six-day selection programme.
The camp, which began on March 23, combined trial matches with practice sessions, giving players an opportunity to showcase their skills in real match situations. Participants competed across multiple age groups, including U-15, U-19, U-23, and senior categories.
Officials from JKCA told Greater Kashmir that U-15 category witnessed the highest number of selections during the initial shortlisting process. Players shortlisted during the Srinagar leg will undergo further scrutiny in the next phase.
“The programme was designed as a camp-cum-match exposure to properly assess the players. After this phase, shortlisted candidates will be evaluated again,” a JKCA official said.
The next leg of the talent hunt is set to be held in Jammu, where players from the Jammu division will participate in similar trials. Following that, a final round of shortlisting will be carried out.
The JKCA official added that the initiative is part of JKCA’s continued efforts to strengthen the women’s cricket structure in Jammu & Kashmir and identify promising talent for higher-level competitions.
