Ladakh UT admin approves age-relaxation for border areas candidates for upcoming recruitment of SI posts

Srinagar, Apr 08: In an another landmark decision to fulfill the aspiration of the youth, the Ladakh Union Territory (UT) administration on Wednesday approved age-relaxation for candidates from areas adjoining Actual Line of Control (ALC), for the upcoming recruitment for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in Ladakh Police.

The Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena in his official X handle said that with this move the candidates up to the age of 35-years, will be eligible for the recruitment drive, as against the upper age limit of 28-years earlier.

“I firmly believe that constraints like difficult terrains, limited infrastructure and restricted access to educational and preparatory resources, must not hinder the future of our youths,” LG Ladakh said on X.

He added the government of the Ladakh UT is committed to ensure equal opportunities for all sections of society, particularly the aspirants from ALC areas, by promoting inclusivity and ensuring their fair representation in Ladakh Police and other government departments.

On April 7, the LG-led administration of Ladakh ordered renewal of expired land lease deeds, a long-pending demand of the people of the UT. The LG had stated that he has directed Chief Secretary of the UT to organize special camps for clearing all such pending cases and handover renewed land lease deeds to the concerned people.

The first such camp will be held on April 15, 2026, LG Ladakh had said.
