Budgam, Apr 10: A man was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the orchard area of Sir Syed Abad, Sheikhpora, in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday, with preliminary investigations pointing towards a case of suicide allegedly driven by financial distress.
The deceased has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Muhammad Bhat and a resident of Humhama.
Officials said that the body was discovered in an orchard, following which police were alerted and reached the scene to initiate necessary legal procedures. The area was secured, and initial examination was carried out on-site.
Preliminary verification suggests that the man may have taken the extreme step due to mounting financial hardships. Field reports indicate that he was under significant debt, which is believed to have contributed to his mental distress.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to his death. Further investigation is underway, and officials stated that all aspects of the case are being examined.
