NC leaders hit out at Waheed Para for remarks on Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, Apr 5: National Conference on Sunday hit out at PDP MLA Waheed Para, saying he led a “vile, misogynistic and completely unparliamentary tirade” against senior NC leader and Cabinet Minister Sakina Masood Itoo.

The NC press release said that in two separate statements issued from the offices of Provincial Presidents Showkat Ahmad Mir and Rattan Lal Gupta, “the party said that Para’s crude conduct has shattered any remaining pretense of political credibility of PDP and simultaneously exposed their lack of education and moral integrity.”

As per the statement, the leaders condemned Para, saying he led a “tirade targeting a senior woman legislator in a brazen display of deep-seated chauvinism and prioritising petty character attacks over meaningful discussions.” They demanded Waheed Para’s immediate suspension from the House during the next session, urging the Assembly Speaker to take stern and uncompromising cognizance of this parliamentary delinquency. “The House is a forum for policy, debate and public welfare, not a playground for the tantrums of a frustrated politician,” the NC leaders said. “The NC reaffirmd its unflinching stance that toxic conduct of this nature will never be tolerated, insisting that respect, responsibility and competence must guide the actions of those entrusted with public office,” said the statement.
