Jammu, Feb 10: The President of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress Pradesh Committee (JKPCC), Tariq Hamid Karra, on Tuesday termed SASCI loans a debt trap for Jammu and Kashmir while speaking in the Assembly.
During the discussion on the budget speech, PCC chief Tariq Karra questioned, why the government is seeking new loans under SASCI when nearly ₹1 lakh crore remains unspent.
“Around ₹1 lakh crore remains unspent. Why is the government seeking more loans under SASCI?” he asked.
He said that only 12% of the budget has been utilised for capital expenditure.
He further stated that if the government already has ample funds, taking on additional loans raises serious concerns about fiscal responsibility and development priorities.
