Say No to Drugs: DC inaugurates Cricket Tournament in Ramban

Ramban, Feb 5: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, on Thursday inaugurated the Cricket Tournament 2026 here at District Police Lines.

Themed “Say No to Drugs,” the event has been organised by the District Youth Services & Sports Department to promote healthy lifestyle and constructive engagement among youth through sports.

The tournament, as per an official statement, being held on a knockout basis, has attracted enthusiastic participation from 16 local teams.

ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak; Additional SP Mujeeb-Ur-Rehman; ACR Shokat Hayat Mattoo; Tehsildar Deep Kumar; DYSSO Jagdeshraj Sharma and other officers attended the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of sports in channelising the energy of youth towards positive activities.

The ADC stressed the role of sports in keeping youth away from social evils, particularly substance abuse. He urged participants to adopt sports for physical fitness, mental well-being and character building.
