Seven injured as vehicle plunges into gorge in J&K’s Rajouri

Rajouri, Mar 14: At least seven persons were injured after an Eeco car met with an accident in the Thannamandi area of Rajouri district on Saturday.

A vehicle bearing registration number JK14E-4195 was on its way from Mahore to the shrine of Shahdara Sharief when the driver lost control near Thannamandi, causing the car to skid off the road and plunge into a deep gorge, KNC reported.

In the incident, seven persons on board have been injured and have been identified as Mohd Rafiq S/o Abdul Majeed, Naseem Begum W/o Qamar Din, Amir S/o Mohd Rafiq, Mohd Tanveer S/o Qamar Din, Fatima Bano W/o Mohd Aslam, Zatoon Begum W/o Nasir Ahmed and Abdul Hameed S/o Mohd Shareef, all residents of Mahore.

Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured, who were immediately shifted to PHC Thannamandi for treatment, where doctors provided first aid.

All the injured are stated to be stable, officials said.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and started further investigation.
