Stray Dog attack injures toddler in Rajouri

Rajouri, Jan 21: A one-and-a-half-year-old boy was injured after a stray dog attacked him inside his house in Chenani Bagla village of Rajouri district early Tuesday, prompting renewed concerns over the growing stray dog menace in residential areas.

According to family members, the incident occurred when they briefly stepped out of the house in the morning, during which a stray dog entered the premises and attacked the child, who was sleeping on a bed.

The sudden attack triggered panic, and the family members rushed back inside and managed to rescue the infant from the animal.

The injured child was immediately rushed to GMC Associated Hospital, Rajouri, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources said the child is under medical supervision.

Meanwhile, the family has appealed to the authorities and residents to take urgent steps to address the growing menace of stray dogs and has urged people to remain cautious, especially with small children, to prevent such incidents.
