Weatherman predicts light rain, snow over next week

Srinagar, Feb 10: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally cloudy weather with intermittent light rain and snowfall at isolated places over the next week, though no major rain or snow spell is
forecast till February 21, weather officials said on Monday.

According to the latest weather forecast, February 10 is expected to remain generally
cloudy, with the possibility of light rain or snowfall accompanied by gusty winds at most
places.

On February 11, the weather is likely to be partly cloudy, with light snowfall at isolated
higher reaches. The weather is expected to remain generally dry on February 12, while February 13 may see cloudy conditions with a chance of light snowfall over isolated higher altitude areas.
From February 14 to 16, the region is likely to remain largely dry, though light snowfall at
isolated higher reaches cannot be ruled out towards the night of February 16.

On February 17, generally cloudy conditions are forecast, with light rain or snowfall at
scattered places. Weather conditions are expected to remain dry again from February 18 to 21, officials said.

They said that there is no forecast of any major rain or snow event across Jammu and
Kashmir during this period.

Meanwhile, an advisory has been issued for travellers and transporters, asking them to
confirm the status of roads and highways from concerned traffic authorities before
undertaking journeys and to follow official advisories.

People living in snow-bound higher reaches have also been advised to avoid venturing into
steep and avalanche-prone areas as a precautionary measure.
