Srinagar, Apr 23: In a spirited celebration of Earth Day, Government Boys High School Habak Homehair in Srinagar organised a high-energy Cross Country Run under the theme “Run for Earth, Run for Nasha Mukht Bharat.” The event, as per a statement issued brought together over 350 students, combining athletic enthusiasm with a strong message of environmental responsibility and commitment to the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan, promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among the youth.
The activities conducted during the programme also included, rally on Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan, spreading awareness in the community.
A Pledge Ceremony, where students committed themselves to a drug-free lifestyle. A Plantation Drive, promoting environmental sustainability. A Cleanliness Drive, encouraging civic responsibility.
The event was graced by the Principal, Higher Secondary School Gulabbagh Oscia Jabeen, as the Chief Guest, along with Special Guests, the Zonal Physical Education Officer Gulabbagh Shabir Ahmad, and Hina Amin, District Cultural Coordinator Srinagar, who appreciated the efforts of the institution in organising such a meaningful and socially relevant programme.
A significant highlight of the programme was the sharing of inspiring messages from Dia Mirza, renowned environmental advocate, and Bittu Sahgal, distinguished wildlife conservationist. Their messages encouraged students to actively participate in environmental protection and adopt responsible lifestyles.
The institution also expressed sincere gratitude to Nadeem Qadri, Environmental Lawyer, Chief Executive Director of Wildlife Conservation Fund (WCF), and Amicus Curiae of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, for his valuable contribution in arranging refreshments through the Vidyanjali initiative as a volunteer.
Special appreciation was extended to the Headmaster of Government Boys High School Habak Homehair, Syed Zubair Ahmad, whose leadership, guidance, and continuous support played a vital role in the successful conduct of the programme. His dedication towards student welfare, discipline, and promotion of co-curricular activities greatly contributed to the grand success of the event.
The school also acknowledged the remarkable efforts of Green Teacher Awardee Rouf Ahmad Rather, whose commitment, planning, and tireless hard work were instrumental in organising and managing the programme smoothly.
Special recognition was also given to Physical Education Teacher Tariq Rehman for his dedicated efforts, coordination, and active role in conducting the Cross Country Run and motivating students towards sportsmanship, fitness, and discipline.
Special thanks were extended to the Chief Education Officer Srinagar for continuous support and encouragement, the Block Medical Officer Hazratbal for providing medical assistance, and the SSP Traffic for ensuring smooth and safe management of the event. The school also acknowledged the valuable support of the Headmaster, Middle School Bangi Mohalla.
The programme concluded with an award ceremony where winners were felicitated and all participants were appreciated for their enthusiasm and discipline.
